Saint-Jean de Passy was founded in 1839 by the brothers of the Christian Schools; the school was then called Pensionnat de Passy. It was in 1905 that fathers from the neighborhood founded an Association to continue the work of brothers banned from teaching in France. They set up a public Société Anonyme. It is still managing the establishment today. In 1911, these parents approached the Archbishop of Paris (Cardinal Amette) to ask for his protection; it was at this time that the School became diocesan. In 1933, the archdiocese took shares in the Société Anonyme to avoid bankruptcy. To thank him, the School borrowed the name of the archbishop in 1939, Cardinal Jean Verdier and became Saint-Jean de Passy. Source The chapel was rebuilt between 1991 and 1994 by Mr. de Calan, during the renovation of the school. The façade is flanked by statues of the Virgin and Saint John, by Bernard Druet (1994); a sculpture in light relief (the Lamb surrounded by rays) is located above the portal. The rounded shapes dominate, whether it is the façade, the side walls, the podium or the benches; Metal structures on the sides evoke arched arches and warheads.
